Coming in April 2012!

The Dropper is a haunting soliloquy to the harsh and sometimes brutal world our forebears left behind in pursuit of a dream called America. It is also an ode to the often heartrending decisions they were forced to make in leaving some family members—and some part of themselves—behind. And finally, as young Shoe Horn, the novel’s protagonist, grapples blindly with sex until arriving at the maturity to recognize love, it’s also a tender coming-of-age story.

Hey everyone,

Hope your holidays were Merry--we spent Christmas Eve with Marci, the twins & Molly--Matt was working out of town. Also joining us were Marci's sister, her husband and their adorable new baby, Juliette. Kate brought the amazing smoked turkey from Texas that her friend, Jo Massey sends every year.

We didn't have our usual holiday party this year as we were uncertain about our plans relating to our upstate house. Christmas Day we went to our friends, Danna and Lance Guest's new apartment, which was great. Their son, Jack, is a favorite of ours. We spent the New Year week upstate in our new place (cleaning and camping out--inside of course).

In December, I recorded the new Anne Rice book (wild with werewolves!) and Kate did a workshop of Timon of Athens for Oregon Shakespeare Festival (in NYC). I am awaiting the publication of The Dropper, if you want to pre-order here is the link: www.cemeterydance.com/page/CDP/PROD/mclarty01.

Kate just got 2 jobs --one for WebMD and playing a judge on Unforgettable.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ron

PS: We had a visit from our friend, Michael Robothom, the amazing crime fiction writer and his beautiful wife, Vivien and their 3 amazing daughters. We all convened at Bar Pitti (our favorite Trattoria). And today walking in Central Park we saw about 20 Wood Ducks in the Lake area. Never seen a Wood Duck in the Park before--it was so thrilling--they are magnificent.

Elizabeth P. Glixman interviews...
Ron McLarty, author of The Dropper

In order to play a variety of roles, a character actor develops a little spot in the corner of the brain where he stores those primal observations, the idiosyncrasies of everyday people. So I subconsciously found myself studying folks everywhere I went and filing the information in my big head.
